It was a busy week for the Glen Fork GameChangers! The students helped celebrate Red Ribbon Week with fun dress-up days and activities to remind students to be Drug Free! GameChangers gave leis to students and staff for “Lei off Drugs” day. They also handed out information about vaping, red ribbon stickers, and small incentives with a drug free message to students and fans during the 3-5 County Basketball Tournament. 🌟 Big learning, proud moments, and a little family fun in Kindergarten! 🌟 While working on making 10, I decided to challenge our little learners with an extension activity and introduce fact families! To my delight, they took the concept and RAN with it! Our kindergartners were successfully building and completing multiple number sets using a skill typically introduced in first grade! 🧮👏 When I came across this adorable fact family craft, I knew we had to give it a try! But instead of completing it on our own, we invited our families into the classroom to see their children in action! There is something so special about giving parents a front-row seat to their child’s learning and letting them see just how much those little minds are capable of accomplishing. ❤️ Never underestimate what a kindergartner can do when given the opportunity to grow, explore, and be challenged! Glen Fork students were excited to have Mr. Drexel Sammons, a local author and retired educator, help us get into the Halloween Spirit with a little Appalachian folklore and scary stories from his book, “A Teacher’s Best Scary Stories”. Students in grades 3-8 were on the edge of their seats as Mr. Sammons shared some of the scary stories he shared in his classroom throughout the years.
